For Colin Larkin, the editor and mastermind behind The Encyclopedia of Popular Music®, music is life. During the 1960s, he wrote about the U.S.A.'s exploding West Coast rock scene. In the '70s, Larkin founded his own book publishing company, Scorpion Publishing, where he published such titles as Timeless Flight: The Definitive Story of the Byrds, and Bob Dylan’s Unreleased Recordings.
In 1989, he began the monumental task of producing the first extensive encyclopedia of popular music; the first edition of The Encyclopedia of Popular Music® arrived in 1992, quickly becoming the preeminent reference on popular music. The encyclopedia has generated 56 spin-off books, including the best-selling All Time Top 1000 Albums.
Larkin lives in Suffolk, England.
